The House Sign (9) - Two Red Hearts

The Old House Sign are so great and thanks them, you can imagine who lived in the house. I think that in the Hous With Red Hearts lived two lovers.... Maybe it turned out badly with them and people called it so of their memory. Maybe it turned out good, who knows... :)

Peacocks

These big birds have home place in Vojanovy sady. This park is very nice and its history dates back to 1248.
I saw 13 adults and 7 babies peacocks.

The Church Of St. Roch

This Church was built in 1680-1682. The reason was the plague epidemic and it was needed new cemetery church.

I would like show you next Old House Sign. Today it is House With Golden Kettle. I only found that this house is older than half century.

Art In The Streets

In Prague streets you can find lots exhibitions, statues or other kinds or art.
This Chair is located before Sova´s Mill (today it is place for exhibitions). This wooden sculpture is six meters and weighs around 2 tons.

This garden is called Na Baště. It is part of the gardens of Prague Castle.

House With Sign (7)

When I show you the House Signs, you ask me what exactly it is. So today it is little diferent. I don´t show only Sign.
The old House Sign is picture or sculpture over the doors or in the middle of house. It was most important from second half of 14th century untill 18th century. People used it for the distinction of houses.

Švejk

This is a painting on the wall of one restaurant in Vysočany. Josef Švejk (left) is a character in Jaroslav Hašek´s satirical novels. First stories were writen in 1911, but the most known is third book - The Good Soldier Švejk.
Josef švejk is a little bit stupid, but very good person.

The Bridge Over The Highway

This is the foot bridge over the highway D1.
D1 is the oldest and longest highway in the Czech Republic. It will have nearly 400km.

On the photo is the cross on the wall of this church. It is (was) church of the Priory of the Maltese Knights.

The House Sign (6) - Silver Roses

House with this House Sign was built by combining of two gothic houses in the 15th century. It is located near Old Town Square.
Name of this house is House with Three Silver Roses.

Czech Yacht Club

This is a house of Czech Yacht Club. It was build in 1912 and is located under Vyšehrad.
I never was in.
And I don´t think we have enought big yachts on Vltava river. :-)

Church of St. Jindřich

The next one back door. Today it is unused door of the church of St. Jindřich. It is located in Jindřišská ulice.

Flood 2002 - ZOO

Do you see the blue-yellow flag? It is in height about 10 metres. It is a point of how big was flood in 2002. Whole bottom part of ZOO was under water.
Caregivers had to relocate more than 1000 animals in a few hours. Not only small animals, but also large, such as gorillas, hippos, rhinos ...

Prediction was twenty-year flood, but it turned into more than five hundred-year flood.

The flood in 2002 affected most of parts of Bohemia.

I enjoy every visit to the Prague ZOO. It is a very nice place for people, but also for animals.

Please, some water

For last few days we have really hot and unpleasant weather. It is annoying. I wish the rain :-)
Unfortunately, for now we can only use a similar drinking fountains/ drinking pumps in the center. This one is close to Štěpánská Street.
